The structure of the ectoderm consisting of tetragonal cells
The second model of spatial organization of two-layered epithelia
has got the composition of AB tetragonal cells. For arrangement and
designations see Fig. 4. On the right side are shown:
- a) Apical surface of grass frog larva epidermis. A cellular shapes
resembling regular squares can be seen as well as an intersections of
four cellular edges. SEM;
- b) A semi-thin tangentional sections of the epidermis at the level
close to middle. There is a group of small cells with four edges and
large octagonal cell shapes, mutual arrangement of which is comparable
with mosaic b;
- c) a group of cell profiles with four edges, mutual arrangement
of which is comparable with mosaic c.
